Spreading the gospel has been the primary mission of all believers since the days of the early Church in Acts. But while that mission has been the same for generations, the methods of pursuing it have changed—and they must continue to change for the future Church to survive and to thrive.

From word of mouth to the written word, the Church has adopted new strategies in effectively reaching people with the good news of Jesus Christ. The digital age has reshaped how we share the gospel, but the pandemic forced churches to pivot fully and rethink all the ways ministry is done. Digital tools for livestreaming worship and other meetings, giving online, and helping members engage with each other have become increasingly critical to the work of the local church. People must connect to share the gospel, and emerging technologies provide relevant, efficient ways for people to connect.

Ways that Ascent is focused on this prayer initiative

Digital Proficiency Workshops: BGAV’s Ascent Marketing Group (AMG) leads hands-on regional workshops for local church leaders and members to sharpen their skills and learn about the latest in affordable digital tools they can use to reach their communities.

Personalized Church Snapshots: Partnering with Here I Am Church Engagement, AMG offers participating churches a low-cost opportunity to receive a personalized report/assessment of their church’s individual digital profile, including recommendations for improvement in outreach and messaging.

User-friendly App: BGAV offers participating churches a customizable app called ChurchPoint at no cost to the church for integrating their communication, livestreaming, and online giving needs.

Online Giving: BGAV partners with Vanco to offer participating churches a low-cost, easy-to-use online giving method for their church members to utilize for offerings and other payments. Vanco also offers a livestream service to incorporate online giving functionality within a seamless, user-friendly interface. Ways you can join us in this prayer initiative RIGHT NOW

As part of our prayer initiative, Ascent is asking for everyone to join us in prayer for these and other upcoming ministry initiatives as they emerge. Specific ways you can pray for Spreading the Gospel include:

• Pray for church leaders to be creative in their thinking and strategizing as they seek to reach people in their communities with the gospel.
• Pray that churches will secure funding to make necessary improvements, including technology that may be new to them.
• Pray that church leaders and members will volunteer their skills and willingness to learn to maximize efficiency and effectiveness in using new digital outreach tools.
• Pray that individuals and families will notice new methods of outreach to them and respond favorably.
